Dave and Tarryll Shomento brought Sammy’s Pizza to Bismarck in 2006. Dave’s uncle, Sam Perrella, would be proud to see the family’s secret, homemade recipes extend into North Dakota.
While the tradition of Sammy’s Pizza may be relatively new to the Capital City, it’s been a long-standing favorite in North Dakota since 1959. That’s when Dave’s parents, Albert and Carmella (Perrella) Shomento, and his brother Bert first opened a restaurant in Minot. The following year, Bert, along with his wife Annamarie, took over the family business, which they continued to run for the next 40 years. In 2000, the brick oven tradition officially passed to Dave and Tarryll, who took over as owners and operators. It’s now a third generation business as their daughter, Mikayla Shomento, serves as manager.
The Shomentos – as any good Italian will tell you – take great pride in serving the food that bears their family’s name. That special pride is evident in each and every dish they make, and it’s why they enthusiastically welcome everyone in their extended family (their customers) to celebrate the traditions and quality of Sammy’s Pizza.
The Shomento’s also operate Sammy’s Pizza in Minot.
